Sediment Basin Desilting
Client - Brisbane Motorway Services
Project - Logan Motorway
Blue Maintenance Group were engaged to provide civil services for the desilting of numerous silt basins on the Gateway Motorway as part of the regular maintenance of the motorway.

The basin design allows for water to flow from the motorway at numerous locations into connected basins. The water entering the basins has the potential to contain contaminates from the motorway.

The water is then filtered through a series of primary and secondary sediment ponds before draining into natural waterways and sensitive habitat areas. BMG located and identified all connective pond pipe systems before engaging the services of a civil contractor to remove and dispose the invasive plants and silt from the ponds.
Issues confronted by BMG included the time restraints for the Project delivery, the legislative requirements of removing and disposing with potentially contaminated waste, working in areas with sensitive flora and fauna considerations.

Soundwall Drain Restoration
Client - Brisbane Motorway Services
Project - Gateway Motorway
Blue Maintenance Group was engaged to deliver a civil project for the stabilisation and remediation of drains at the Old Cleveland Road North on ramp to the Gateway Motorway.

Having had previous experience in delivering time and cost sensitive works BMG was engaged by a previous client. The works had been identified as under foundation scouring caused by heavy rainfall and was urgent to restore the integrity of foundations of the sound wall separating the Gateway Motorway from adjoining private properties.

The works involved the clearing of impeding vegetation, the reshaping of a drain in front of the sound wall and the placement of geo fabric and fill so as to prevent further erosion.

D&C Feature Entrance Gardens
Client - Broadspectrum
Project - Toowoomba Bypass Tollway
Blue maintenance Group was engaged to design and construct feature low maintenance gardens at the front entrance of the Toowoomba Bypass Project Control Centre Operations and administration Building.
BMG developed a design brief that included a works methodology for the client.
The brief took into consideration access to the site, current site-specific soil type, climatic conditions, elevation in geography, and the exposed southerly aspect of the front of the buildings main entrance.

Plant species where sourced from climate specific nurseries for the project, and the works included:
Delivering and installing new soils to suit the plant species being provided.
Installing feature aggregates and Sandstone boulder retaining structures.
The installation of a low-pressure underground drip irrigation system.
A key part of the plan was to install a porous hard surfaced durable pathway that beside the carpark which kept foot traffic off the installed gardens and acted as a soak area for water run off both above and below ground.

Drainage Works and Vacuuming
Client - Brisbane Motorway Services
Project - Logan Motorway
Blue Maintenance Group were engaged to provide civil services for the delivery of drain maintenance on the Logan Motorway. By way of external audit, the client identified the need for drain asset maintenance at 44 locations on the Logan Motorway.
Many of the assets had become heavily silted and required the vacuuming and disposal of silt from drains, headwalls and aprons.
BMG engaged the services and managed a contractor for the vacuuming and disposal of silt from the drains. The project was completed during daylight and at night under Traffic Control.
Ute-mounted Boom Spray
Innovative technology developed by BMG to spray Armco railing PCB’s
This effective piece of technology can be used on either side of the Ute. The operator watches a large dash mounted monitor which connects to external cameras mounted to the Ute.
Key benefits of this equipment, which is predominantly used at night, include:
Fast efficient delivery of chemicals
Safety for the operator from spray drift exposure
Greatly reduced costs of traffic management on night shifts because of the the speed the unit can operate at
Access to areas of road network that can not be normally accessed by foot

Remote Controlled Mowers
Time and cost saving, safety-focused equipment.
In 2019 following an extensive period of research BMG introduced a Remote-Controlled Mower to the fleet of mowers.
The mower a MDB LV 500 is a powerful and versatile track driven mower. The MDB LV 500 can be operated safely at distances up to 150 metres from the operator. BMG primary use for the remote-controlled mower is the ability to mow embankments up to 60 degrees angle.
It can also be operated close to roadways where it is unsafe for workers to be on foot. BMG operates this mower with 2 attachments being a Flail type mowing head and a rotary blade mowing head.
The increased safety and productivity of the remote mower has enabled BMG to provide clients with solutions to the landscaping of areas previously not accessible.
